THE MAN AND HIS WORK

Husband, parent, architect, designer, print maker and artist Hugh is also a sports nut and Francophile. His pastimes are all of the above plus studying and illustrating the histories of architecture, mythology and legend. All these are reflected in his art where he works in a wide range of media and in technique. He is at his most prolific when his subject is people at work and play, when a wry observation of the human scene is mixed with humour both fond and acute. He sketches wherever he may be. Even when fielding at cricket.

A SHORT HISTORY

Architecturally trained he soon left England for Canada where he formed a multi-discipline design partnership. Quite successful, the work took him all over North America. After twelve years he and Ginette took an intended year's sabbatical to do some property developing in France. It took a while to get used to the French two hour lunch break but with time on his hands he started painting again. Ginette took some this work to a gallery and it sold. Happy in their new life and with encouraging commissions the intended year extended to three when parenthood compelled a return too England (they don't have cricket in French schools).

MISCELLANEOUS AND ENQUIRIES

For any information on his work (such as the origins of the Legends prints); for galleries where his originals might regularly be seen or shows intended; to enquire about commissions or any subject matter that you have in mind feel free to contact Hugh; he enjoys the interaction.
